Accessibility

Ensuring that your site is accessible and usable are inherent to its success. This whole arena relates to making your information easy to access and digest not just by non-disabled visitors but by the disabled or aged. Good practice in this area also encompasses ensuring that search engines can scan your content correctly to rank you as highly as possible in organic search results.

We offer a full accessibility and usability service alongside our web build and consultation services to ensure that your site is up to scratch and stays there.

We keep our eyes on standards including:

  • W3C Candidate Recommendations
  • Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0
  • WAI-AGE recommendations

We also apply good practice and industry-conventions to ensure that:

  • Information is easy to retrieve (humans generally don't read pages word-for-word - instead we scan web pages.) When we scan web pages certain items stand out such as headings, links, bold text and bulleted lists
  • Navigation is clear and intuitive and bread-crumb trails are provided
  • Pages download quickly
  • CSS is used to construct web page layout and navigation items
  • There is good contrast between a web sites background colour/imagery and overlay of content
  • Certain constructs are avoided such as scroll bars (if possible) and frames
  • Search facilities are powerful and easy to use and available from anywhere and are often context-sensitive
  • Standard items work correctly such as browser back-button, book-marking, send to a friend, printable pages
  • Forms are simple to use and intuitive
  • Content is tailored to the user where possible
